For those of you have not seen it, Consumer Reports’ September issue on medication use is out. The NCPA Innovation Center is working with Consumer Reports to promote a National Check Your Meds Day on Saturday, October 21, 2017 (see page 30 of CR story… online link here). On this day, consumers are encouraged to bring their prescription medications and supplements to their local pharmacies for brown bag reviews. The NCPA Innovation Center has put together a pharmacy toolkit with marketing resources, program forms, and more at www.ncpanet.org/checkyourmeds, which we will continue to refine over the weeks ahead. We are also encouraging NCPA student chapters at colleges of pharmacy to be prepared to work with local pharmacies.
Please help us spread the word through the industry about October 21 being National Check Your Meds Day, and encourage pharmacies to participate and use the tools/resources we have developed for them.
In order to quantify the impact of the event, we will be asking pharmacies to fill out a quick five-question form after the event online. If you would like to collect information from your pharmacies and aggregate it before sending to us, we would welcome that as well. Data collection information can be sent to AllieJo.Shipman@ncpanet.org.
Please let us know what you can about what you plan to do with your pharmacies on this initiative.
